Generation Two LSC vs Base Model
The second generation of Mark VIIIs were produced in 1997 and 1998. Almost all of the features that are standard on an LSC can be added to base models, so you need to watch out for fakes. The easiest way to determine this is by looking at the VIN number, VINs with the number M91 are base models, M92s are LSC models
The 1997-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC
The heavy restyle of the Mark VIII base model was also evident on the LSC model, but the equipment and features included in the package were carryover. Ford added 10 horsepower and 10 ft-lbs of torque by installing a true dual exhaust, and quickened low-end acceleration by changing the rear axle ratio from 3.08 to 3.27. The interior gained perforated leather sections in the seatbacks and bottoms. Handling was stiffened by revalving the shocks. The chrome strips underneath the headlights and around the taillights are painted body color, along with the entire grille assemby. 10-spoke directional alloy wheels once again replaced the standard lacy-spoke wheels, giving the car a mush sportier appearance. HID headlights are now standard on the base model, and are standard for LSC models.
