"Changing the compressor pics"

   These are some pics I took as the compressor was changed. I accessed thru the fender well as the silencer was removed when the spider valve was installed. It is very close in there and I never should have removed the bracket as the compressor can easily be removed by taking out 4 screws plus several electrical connectors,and with difficulty; the four air tubes which are connected in the pics.
I will not give instructions as Eddie supplies them with his compressor, and I am not an expert, but I thought these pics would be helpful to anyone planning this MK VIII fix. I did it the first time by taking the bumper cover off, but thru the fender is easier if you can live with out the silencer and enjoy the Mark VIII growl

   Not pics, Ron! It reminds me too much of spending lots of time in my garage. I see you put in a spider valve, also. Good choice.

   Dan;
The air lines are just pushed into the openings which have a brass collet to hold them in and an "O" ring to seal the tubes from leaking. They do have to be pushed in with some force otherwise they can leak.

   Right on, Ron! Based on my experience, I would not use pliars to install them, but mecahnix gloves. If you don't have those, you can use a golf or batting glove. Anything so your hand doesn't slip on the air lines you are shoving in the dryer!

The trick I have found to the air lines is to press as hard as you can against the collar while pulling the line. Eventually they will give. Don't use a tool, you might damage the line.

   Are you talking about removing the lines, Scott? I found a flat blade screwdriver pressed against the orange collet worked best for applying the needed pressure to remove the airlines. I didn't damage anything, but my mechanical skills are legendary.

   I've found that a small OE wrench works the best; little chance of it slipping and gouging something (or someone).
